philosophy

Design is not art — it is about more than just aesthetics. Design is concerned with how we interact and interface with tools, objects, and more likely in my line of work, digital experiences. Truly great design should not only provide a frictionless user experience, but aim to increase the enjoyment of a user through moments of surprise and delight. A composition should never be dominated by design, rather, improved by its thoughtful considerations. Strip away superfluous clutter, and keep the emphasis entirely on the essentials. I receive a great amount of joy from design, because the goal of every project I work on is typically either to solve a problem, or improve an experience. And I like solving problems. There is something innately satisfying when using a highly considered product — in which a designer, or team of designers took great care in improving every interaction. As I move through my career, I aim to continue solving problems and improving experiences — taking care not to lose sight of what is essential.
